Brian T. Leary

Brian Leary joined partners, Tim King and Jim Lang, to form CPEX Real Estate in 2008. Brian is managing the firm’s Business Line Divisions and Business Development. He has been involved in Real Estate operations, sales and construction for twenty years. Brian has hired, trained and managed several hundred people in his career.

Mr. Leary began his career by managing a small construction and landscaping business that was based in Brooklyn and serviced New York City's five boroughs. He also worked on various large scale construction projects throughout the tri-state area. He was later employed by The Bear Stearns Companies as a vice president in their real estate and office services department. Centralized in New York, his department acquired, developed and managed space for all domestic and international offices occupied by The Bear Stearns Companies. In 2000 he was a member of a project team that acquired, planned, and developed 1.2 million square feet of high-end office space in New York City located at 383 Madison Ave., serving as Bear Stearns new world headquarters. While at Bear Stearns, he was also a member of the project team that acquired and further developed a 65 acre technology campus and built 3 new office buildings on the site in Whippany, New Jersey. After eight years at The Bear Stearns Companies, he ventured on his own and formed Millennia Realty Services, and for two years he provided real estate and construction services to smaller companies without a facilities department in New York City.

In 2003 Brian joined Massey Knakal Realty Services a commercial investment sales firm focused on servicing the New York City market. As the managing partner of MKRS’S Brooklyn and Staten Island divisions, Brian oversaw the sales and operations for 75 employees.  During his five years at MKRS, Brian implemented operations and sales systems, acquired and built office space for his staff and his team and completed 1.4 billion dollars in aggregate sales in the New York market. While at MKRS as a broker for five years, covering the Brooklyn market, he was personally responsible for the sale of 160 properties totaling 5.2million square feet of existing buildings and 7.2million square feet of buildable space for a total aggregate sales value of $850,000,000.

Brian graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management. He also has a Graduate Diploma in Construction Management from New York University.  Brian has authored numerous articles for trade publications and frequently speaks publicly for programs devoted to the real estate market.

Brian has done extensive national and international travel for both business and pleasure. He was born and raised in Brooklyn and currently resides in Manhattan’s Gramercy Park neighborhood.
