Jim Lang joined partners, Tim King and Brian Leary, to form CPEX Real Estate in 2008. Jim oversees all of the firms operations, sales support, administration and business development. Jim has been involved in Real Estate operations and facilities management for over forty years and has hired, trained and managed several thousand employees in his career.
 
Jim spent the last thirty-one years at The Bear Stearns Companies and retired in 2007 as Senior Managing Director of Facilities Planning and Global Real Estate. While at Bear Stearns, Jim was primarily responsible for the acquisition and management of the firm’s worldwide real estate operations. Jim was responsible for all operations and lease administration for several million feet of office space occupied by the firm domestically and internationally. Having traveled extensively, Jim has worked in the real estate industry in every major market throughout the world.
 
Jim was responsible for bringing Bear Stearns to Metro Tech in Downtown Brooklyn as the first anchor tenant in the late 80’s. This was the first Wall Street firm to move their back office outside of Manhattan. He managed the acquisition in the early 90’s of a 65 acre technology campus in Whippany, New Jersey to house more back office departments in the firm. He later managed the development of 5 additional buildings on the site in New Jersey. In 2001, Jim directed the site acquisition, planning and development of the company’s world headquarters located at 383 Madison Avenue (a 1.2 million square foot state of the art office building, housing over 6,200 employees) in New York City.
 
Prior to joining Bear Stearns, Jim worked for Shields and Company and Wertheim and Company for over nine years within the internal audit and accounting divisions and eventually was promoted to Director of Facilities.
 
Jim’s experience in Real Estate operations and facilities management provides a wealth of knowledge to both tenant and owner representation and a unique insight into the administrative functions of owning, operating and servicing commercial real estate.
 
Jim attended St. John’s University and Pace University where he majored in accounting. Jim currently resides in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn and is actively involved in several not-for- profit and youth programs supporting education.
